Monsoon watch:
The upper air cyclonic circulation over west central and adjoining
northwest Bay of Bengal extending upto mid-tropospheric level
persists tilting southwestwards with height.
The western disturbance as an upper air cyclonic circulation over
Punjab and neighbourhood persists and extends upto 3.1 km above mean
sea level.
The axis of monsoon trough passes through Anoopgarh, Alwar, Nowgong,
Pendra, Bhubaneshwar and thence southeastward to eastcentral Bay of
Bengal.
A fresh low pressure area is likely to form over west central and
adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal around 4th.
Chief amounts of rainfall (= 2 cm) occurred (between 0830 to 1730
hours IST of today) are: Bulsar-7, Allahabad-5, Vishakhapatnam-3,
Shirali, Varanasi, Jharsuguda, Nizamabad and Dharmshala-2 each.
Main Features:
Fairly widespread rainfall activity with isolated heavy to very
heavy falls is likely along west coast and parts of peninsular India
during next 2-3 days.
Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall activity is likely over
parts of northwest India till tomorrow and may increase in intensity
thereafter.
KALPANA 1 Cloud Imagery at 1730 hours IST shows convective clouds
over east Arabian Sea, central Bay of Bengal, north Andaman Sea,
parts of Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. Low/medium
clouds are seen over parts of northwest, west, east & northeast
and peninsular India.
